A YEAR FOR BLESSINGS!
“A Year of Blessings”, said Christopher Tambwali, a form II student being supported by Kasupe Ministries. He was right, many of the children have shared the same view for 2006. We are thankfull to the Lord who provided for us inorder to assist the kids as well as reach out to the caretakers in malvelous ways. He has done great things to us during the year. This annual report has briefly presented what was accomplished in the villages under KM care. May His name be glorified.

I. Kindergarten
a. 62 kids attended classes for the whole year
b. School had three full-time teachers
c. Tables and small chairs were made for all kids
d. Uniforms were bought for all kids
e. More playing materials were provided by overseas visitors
f. School pitlatrine was completed
g. Meals were provided every school day to all kindergarten kids

II. Education
a. Morethan 60 secondary school students were supported with school fees
b. Drop out rate of girls was slightly reduced
c. Girl students were encouraged to attend school and to work hard
d. Profiles for students were developed
e. Five students had individual sponsors
f. School materials given to all primary and secondary school students
III. Food Security
a. About 50% of Kasupe Ministries’ beneficiaries had produced enough food for the whole year, more compared to last year
b. 1450 bags of maize were bought to completely cut the hunger circle
c. Maize was bought to enable all beneficiaries work in their own fields
d. Food distribution started in October 2006 and will run until March 2007
e. Kasupe bought and opened its own maize garden
f. Two treadle pumps acquired for irrigation during dry seasons
g. Kasupe managed a demonstration maize plot for dry season farming
h. Food security programs largely supported by Osprey Foundation of US

IV. Bible Camps
a. 4 Bible camps were conducted, three of them supported by overseas visitors
b. Word of God taught to children during the camps
c. Camps were open to all children from 10 villages
d. Average attendance was 700 kids for each camp

V. Kids Days
a. 6 kids days conducted, three of them supported by overseas visitors
b. Activities open to all kids from the 10 villages supported by Kasupe Ministries
c. Average attendance was 800 kids for each Kids Day

VI. Feeding Programs
a. 450 orphans under the care of KM were supported with food according to individual housholds needs
b. 109 caregivers were supported with food
c. Morethan 300 non orphans in the area were supported with food from January to April 2006
d. Vulnerable old people were supported with food from January to April 2006

VII. Secondary School Construction
a. Construction proposal completed
b. 250,000 bricks made (already burnt)
c. More than 30 tones of sand collected for construction fo buildings
d. Additional land for the school acquired (4 acres)
e. Proposed headmaster for the school appointed
f. Land scaping work started
g. Work on the two roads to the school started
h. Clearing of the land


VIII. Bible Studies/Prayers
a. Bible studies done every Wednesday
b. Prayers dones once every week
c. Morning chapel service started for all full-time staff (once every week)

IX. Overseas Visitors
The following people from overseas visited Kasupe Ministries in 2006:

X. Clothes
a. All orphans supported with one pair of clothes
b. More than 250 orphans received assorted materials such as shoes, blankets, bathing towels

XIII. A Look Into 2007
Kasupe Ministries has the following plans for 2007:
a. To strengthen food security program through irrigation faming and food bank
b. To support more local farmers in food diversification
c. Sponsoring of about 100 secondary school children
d. Advocate for individual sponsorship of students
e. Kindegarten to increase inrolment from 62 to 80
f. Make a play ground for kindergarten
g. Building of four buildings for secondary school (two houses, two classrooms, pitlatrines and bathrooms)
h. Have two full-time secondary school teachers
i. Start income generating activities
j. Have four Bible camps and four kids days
k. Full time care of two HIV/AIDS women (currently under care)
l. Plant more than 5000 trees

Appreciation

In 2008, Kasupe Ministries was able to accomplish a lot because of generous friends and partners who joined hands to help the children in Malawi. We have fed hundreds of children and needy adults, we have kept our kids in schools (kindergarten, primary, and secondary), we have distributed clothes and blankets, we have assisted HIV/AIDS people, and we have constructed several buildings for Kasupe Secondary School. The secondary school opened its classes in January 2008. All the above activities have been made possible because of your support and we thank you for your generosity. KM strives to minister to the whole child. To do this, the following activities were carried out from January to December, 2008:

Blankets and clothes Distribution
· More than 350 children were given new blankets
· 330 blankets were donated by members of Ashland Presbyterian church while the rest were donated by other partners
· Assorted clothes were given to more than 700 children, donations came from different people

Education Sponsorship
· More than 80 secondary school orphans were supported with tuition
· More than 60 students were sponsored by individual sponsors

Food for Work Project
· 203 families are being supported with food, the project will run until March 2009
· The households represent about 2000 beneficiaries of the project

HIV/AIDS Support Group
· More than 45 HIV positive people belonged to Kasupe Support Group
· The group conducted an Open Day Program to sensitize people on the dangers of HIV/AIDS

Kasupe Ministries Secondary School
· The school started in January 2008 with about 40 students
· More than 230 prospective students sat for KM’s entrance exams for the 2009 Form I class
· About 60 students have been selected for Form I and this means that the school will have about 100 students in January 2009

Kasupe PEACE Kindergarten
· About 90 students attended Kasupe Kindergarten
· New uniforms were bought for the children
· Meals were provided each day of school

KM’s Incorporation in the US, Setting up a Board of Trustees
· Kasupe Ministries was registered as a charity organization in the USA
· A bank account was setup in US and this will make it easy for people to support Kasupe Ministries
· KM has 4 Board of Trustee members in USA


Proposed Water Project
· Kasupe Ministries wrote a proposal for a borehole (deep well water pump) for Kasupe Secondary School
· The proposal was sent to an organization in Europe that showed interest in the project, and we are waiting for a response

Secondary School Construction
· Two teachers’ houses were constructed
· One two-classroom block was constructed
· Final work on all buildings still to be finished

Spiritual Activities
· 3 Bible camps were done for the kids
· Chapel services done every Monday
· Wednesday prayers and Bible studies were conducted

Visitors

· 14 friends from Belgium came to Kasupe for five weeks
· 9 friends from California visited Kasupe
· 8 people from Emmanuel International and Evangelical Baptist church also visited Kasupe
· Margie Berlin of Ashland Presbyterian Church came to teach at Kasupe Secondary School for three months

Looking ahead

Join us in prayer as we plan to do the following in 2009:
Feed more than 2000 people through the Food for Work Project until March 2009
Continue secondary school construction, our target is to construct 1 classroom block and two teachers’ houses in 2009
Continue paying wages for teachers at the secondary school and kindergarten
Sponsor more than 100 orphans through secondary school
Sponsor 6 orphans to colleges
Continue taking care of kids at the kindergarten
Assist people who are HIV positive and those who have developed AIDS
Searching for more people to be on the Kasupe Board in USA
Install a borehole (deep well water pump) for the secondary school
